I have to dedicate this posting to my best friend Sparkle C. Pomeroy.

All of those who knew her, remember getting that phone call one year ago today. They remember where they were at that exact moment. They remember the gut wrenching feeling when the person on the other end asked if they were sitting down and said, "She's Gone".
For me, I didn't believe it at first... then I panicked. I lost it. I couldn't get her to pick up her phone, which just kept going to voicemail and I clung to hearing her voice on that message.
Unexpected Loss
This was not an elderly that somehow seems easier if it's expected. This was a normal 26 year old young woman whom had just begun her life. She was only with us for a short time and somehow touched every single person that she came in contact, with a very fond memory of her smile and her ever so large personality.
The Wreck
Sparkle woke up bright and early, stopped by her moms and then headed to a doctors appointment when on state road 417 in Orlando, she crossed over the median, over 3 lanes of oncoming traffic before careening into a retention pond just off of the Lee Vista exit. Several witnesses stopped to try and help. They were even able to break her back windshield to see her reach back and ask them to help her... They couldn't get to her quick enough. Her car went under and they had to call divers to pull her out. The medics even said that they had high hopes of reviving her, due to the cold water lowering her heart rate. Despite these hopes, Sparkle passed away and her memorial service was held only a few days later on February 18, 2010.
Fighting for Their Granddaughter
After her passing, Sparkles 4 year old daughter, Alexis was taken by her biological father (Richard Gorman, a registered sex-offender) whom refused to let Alexis attend her mothers funeral. When asked by Eric Rasmussen, "Why is your daughter not being allowed to attend her mother's funeral today"
Rich's response was, "Alexis is allowed to attend the funeral however I received a phone call from my attorney Mitchell Krause advising me that the maternal grandparents did not want her there."
We all know this is false to the fact that Sparkle's parents tried to get a court order to allow their granddaughter at her mothers funeral, after Rich told them that she would not be there. The florida court system denied them. What type of person doesn't allow their daughter attend their own mothers funeral?!?!
Sparkle's parents are continuing to fight this cruel ruling that took the only piece of Sparkle left to them away.
ResQme
After Sparkles passing, I promised myself that I would raise awareness about a product that could have saved her life. There are a few brands out their like this product but this gets the best reviews, It's called ResQME. It breaks safety glass and even seat belts.
